MSU ARC Fox Hunt!

Though a bit chilly, the ARC gathered for it’s October meeting at the Engineering building ready to take on a fox hunt! It took just about an hour for the first group to find Charlie KE8ZRH on campus near the Horticulture Gardens and Arboretum off of Farm Lane while tracking down the looping Jeopardy timer music (while he ID’d every 5 or so minutes, of course). Feedback for the event was extremely positive and the homebrew Yagi antennas worked great.

ARC member Dong Duong whipped up a tool for applying Bayesian statistics to triangulation bearings called FoxHuntr. It’s available in the “Radio Tools” menu at the top of the site.

For the next hunt, we’ll make sure to bring attenuation of some sort, or use the internal attenuation in the modified firmware of the new Quansheng UVK6 fleet that should be arriving soon.

Members of the MSU ARC crew including Aryan KF8ESI, Jacob (PENDING CALL), Mathias, Rohan (PENDING CALL), Dong, Sawyer, Jack, Brennan KE8JVZ. Also present but not pictured are Charlie KE8ZRH and Suzi KF8DPQ.
